The Public Relations Department established
The Public Relations Department was established at Gaza University since its inception in 2009 to be one of the important and essential departments in the university. Its purpose is to achieve integration, inclusivity, and diversity in all branches of the university, in order to contribute to the development and progress of the university's educational journey. It aims to enhance the Palestinian national reality towards quality, creativity, excellence, and scientific and technological advancement, in order to envision a promising future for our students.
The objectives of the Public Relations Department
The Public Relations Department serves as the university's interface to the external public and acts as a link between the internal stakeholders, including employees and students, and the university administration. This highlights the importance of public relations in consistently working to enhance the university's good reputation among both its internal and external audiences by disseminating its objectives and social philosophy.
General Objective:
To position Gaza University among local universities and create a positive mental image of the university. This includes elevating the university's relations to a high level through mutual cooperation agreements with local, regional, and international educational communities.
Specific Objectives:
- Work on creating a positive image about the university's activities, goals, ideas, and social philosophy through publications and printed materials that convey these details. This also includes the university's official website and its presence on social media platforms.
- Strengthen internal social relationships among university staff by engaging them in various events, building strong relationships between staff and university administration, and contributing to a general understanding of the university's systems in line with its social mission, fostering a sense of teamwork.
- Pay attention to students by guiding them through student reception committees, facilitating their enrollment procedures, directing them to relevant departments, and organizing informative seminars to clarify the requirements and regulations. Additionally, the university's billboards are utilized to enhance students' trust in the university and facilitate their integration into its environment and participation in its activities.
- Establish and document the university's relationship with various local, regional, and international educational and community institutions. This involves creating mutual understanding, cooperation, and exchange agreements that may lead to shared interests.
These objectives collectively aim to enhance the university's reputation and foster positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, contributing to its overall development and progress.
The tasks of the Public Relations Department include:
- Establishing and maintaining a connection between the university and various institutions using available means of communication to develop trust and foster cooperation.
- Supporting the relationship between the university and other public or private universities to facilitate academic collaboration.
- Engaging in all press activities within the university, including issuing newspapers, magazines, and collaborative publications with other departments within the institution.
- Primarily focusing on discovering the interests, needs, and preferences of the public with whom the university interacts, in order to work towards fulfilling those desires and preferences whenever possible.
- Managing all reception and protocol-related matters for visiting delegations to the university, as well as coordinating these visits in advance.
- Providing necessary resources for organizing university events, such as reserving and preparing venues, technical setup, etc.
Departmental divisions include:
- Editorial Department: Responsible for writing and editing university news, activities, and event coverage, as well as preparing and creating media content.
- Design, Photography, and Video Editing Department: Handles capturing events and activities at the university through photography, as well as producing videos and various designs related to the university.
- Monitoring and Publishing Department: Focuses on monitoring, publishing, and documenting all activities on the university's website and various social media platforms.

Media and Publications Activities:
- Coverage of various activities of the university and distributing them to local newspapers for publication, accompanied by photos. They are also published on the university's website and social media platforms.
- Preparation, supervision, and review of all textual materials for university publications and brochures.
- Issuing and printing advertisements specific to students and ensuring their distribution on bulletin boards.
- Arranging and monitoring the publication of advertisements issued by the university in local newspapers, ensuring their compliance with the required specifications, and then forwarding them to the relevant authorities.
- Archiving all news related to the university and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education within the Public Relations archive.
- Supervising the university's advertising campaign.
International Relations Management:
- Managing the university's international relations, which are divided into two aspects: domestic and international.
- Representing the university in external entities by participating in these activities on behalf of the university or arranging the nature of participation in external activities based on their importance and magnitude.
- Receiving guests and visitors to the university, providing them with relevant brochures and publications, and acquainting them with the university's facilities and activities.
- Proper preparation for receiving distinguished guests and visitors, including prominent social figures, and making specific protocol arrangements for their reception according to the schedule of the visit, while ensuring their hospitality.
- Establishing official and informal (friendly) relationships with local educational institutions through reciprocal visits, getting acquainted with their activities, and inviting influential figures to learn about the university's activities and facilities.
- Making arrangements for conferences, celebrations, festivals, and exhibitions organized by the university, including preparing venues and selecting appropriate gifts for participants.
Internal Relations Management:
- Making necessary arrangements for various internal activities of the university, announcing them, sending invitations to relevant parties, and providing technical equipment (such as cameras, video and television equipment, and presentation devices).
- Facilitating communication between the university administration and the public relations department to ensure that the former is informed about all planned activities.
- Providing appropriate coverage of university staff events through the university's website page.
